Police say it happened around 3 o'clock Saturday morning on State Route 32 near the intersection of Brookside Road. Officers took cover and tried to negotiate with the man, who continued firing at New Paltz Police and Ulster County Sheriff Deputies, striking the cars the officers were using as cover.
