Lawyer says Kingston activist targeted by government

The defense attorney for Kingston activist and New Black Panther Party member Ismail Shabazz said the gun-selling charges against his client are a case of entrapment.  Civil rights attorney Michael Sussman, who has known Shabazz for 16 years, is representing the community activist and said he was lured in by an undercover FBI agent.  "I think at the end of the day the true portrait of this man will come out and will vindicate those in the community who support him," Sussman said Friday.  The 60-year-old Shabazz, whose birth name is Garry Faulkner, was arrested in June for selling guns to an undercover federal agent, according to the Ulster County District Attorney's Office.  Shabazz was indicted on six counts of selling illegal weapons to agents from the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force on four separate occasions between May 2014 and May 2015, the DA's office says.
