Drought conditions expand across eastern New York, but welcome rain on the way

The latest United States drought monitor valid on September 30th, but released earlier this morning, shows that abnormally dry conditions continue to expand across portions of eastern New York from Washington county all the way down into the entire Hudson Valley and eastern Catskills. Moderate drought conditions are now showing up across the eastern Catskills and western portions of the mid-Hudson Valley, particularly Ulster and Orange counties, accounting for 4.27 percent of the state.
