Parete, a Democrat from Boiceville who co-owns the Boiceville Inn, was voted chair of the 23-member Ulster County Legislature last January, defying the Democratic caucus's choice, Hector Rodriguez, by aligning with 10 Republican legislators, his son Rich Parete and Democrat Dave Donaldson.
