CSX train strikes SUV with 3 people stealing metal along NY tracks, police say

Three people who were in an SUV hit by a train in Ulster County were illegally removing metal plates along the tracks, police said. Two men and a woman from Kingston were in a vehicle that was struck by a CSX freight train at about 7:50 a.m. Saturday in Saugerties on tracks near the Green County line, the Kingston Daily Freeman reports .
