Capt. Richard Mazzone, a veteran law enforcement official, has earned the rank of Major with the New York State Police, making him the 35th Troop Commander of Troop K, which includes parts of Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Columbia counties. Mazzone's career began in 1995 as an officer with the Town of Saugerties Police Department, before he transferred to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office and Ulster Police Department.
