The same day Ulster County Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum's post on his department's Facebook page stirred controversy for urging pistol permit holders to carry firearms for protection last week, Lewis County Sheriff Michael P. Carpinelli shared his support of Mr. Van Blarcum's statement on his own Facebook page, causing even more debate. Mr. Carpinelli, who did not return repeated requests for comment, took to Facebook to reiterate Sheriff Van Blarcum's call to action, saying Lewis County residents who possess gun licenses should carry guns.
