Queens man free after judge nixed 2002 murder conviction

A Queens man whose murder conviction for killing a beloved community activist was reversed this year by a federal judge walked out of an upstate prison Tuesday a free man for the first time in more than 16 years. Tullie Hyman, 36, walked into the waiting arms of his wife, Desiree, whom he met through a friend and married in 2012 behind the walls of the upstate New York Eastern Correctional Facility in Ulster County.
