NY proposes permits for crowded Catskill Mountain swimming hole

The state Department of Environmental Conservation on Thursday proposed a free, day-use permitting system for Blue Hole on summer weekends and holidays. Officials say they want to ensure access to the popular swimming spot in the Ulster County town of Denning while reducing environmental damage and keeping the public safe.
