The audit will focus on internal procedures and cover the last fiscal year up to the beginning of the audit, according to a letter sent to county officials from the state comptroller's chief examiner this month. While the Comptroller Division of Local Government and School Accountability routinely audits local governments, it comes soon after a federal audit released in March found New York should pay back $6.3 million in Medicaid payments because Ulster County Department of Social Services shoddy monitoring of personal-care services.
