Dry woodlands, scant rain raise wildfire risk in Northeast

Scant rainfall in woodlands still more brown than green has made for ideal wildfire conditions in the Hudson Valley, northern New York and northern New England. In New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo deployed emergency crews Tuesday to help firefighters battle a ridgetop wildfire in Sullivan and Ulster counties that has scorched more than 3 square miles since Sunday.
